According to the precepts of Oriental medicine, massage of this acupressure point is beneficial for optimal prostate health and sexual function. Prostate massage has long been used as a means of maintaining prostate health and to promote increased sexual health. Quite simply, prostate massage stimulates the prostate with a finger or massage tool with the intention of relaxation and/or pleasure. Healthy prostates can also benefit from massage as preventative therapy.

What are the benefits of doing this massage. The internal massage is by far the best massage for deep long term benefits. Prostate massage has since long been used as a means of maintaining prostate health, and to promote increased sexual health. Additional benefits of prostate massage include: creating positive energy, burning calories, reducing tension, and eliminating negative emotions like guilt and anger. However, most importantly, it is believed that regular prostate massage can provide numerous benefits like preventing prostate cancer and other prostate problems.

Prostate massage is considered a healthy activity for all men who are not experiencing severe symptoms of a prostate condition and is once again becoming more widely recommended as researchers discover that prostate massage complements and increases the effectiveness of antibiotics, antimicrobials or herbal remedies by facilitating circulation to the prostate gland.

Today, it is fast becoming widely recommended, as prostate massage has been discovered to complement and enhance the effectiveness of antimicrobial, antibiotic and herbal remedies by facilitating prostate gland circulation.

Prostate massage is not recommended for men with prostate cancer, as you can cause the cancer to metastasize, or for men with a prostate infection, since the infection can spread. Even if you do not have any problems with your prostate yet, it is recommended that you do a massage once a month to prevent problems.

Therefore, the American Urological Association has recommended a yearly prostate examination for every man over age 40 and an immediate examination for any man who develops persistent urinary symptoms If your physician suspects that you have prostatitis or another prostate problem, he or she may refer you to a urologist (a doctor who specializes in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system) to confirm the diagnosis.

Pay attention to personal life, and cultivate good living habits to prevent excessive fatigue, flu prevention, cut tobacco, alcohol, spicy bogey stimulate diet. A healthy diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables can go a long way towards supporting lifelong prostate health. A diet rich in fiber and a clean colon will contribute enormously to a healthy prostate.

You can put a stop to this harmful prostate problem from occurring by merely adjusting the things you do today in your life will make a huge difference tomorrow like changing your diet and exercising to deal with enlarged prostate.

Green Tea and Prostate Health

. Saturday, August 09, 2008

Author: Paul Rodgers

Prostate health is something that should be treated with a balanced diet your whole life. Keeler sums it up: "Prostate health is an issue that men should consider throughout their lifetime, not just when symptoms appear. Because of this location, when prostate health is compromised, it ends up causing many problems.

With the graying of the baby boomers prostate health is looming large and concern for cancer has become an increasingly frequent topic of conversation. The most effective supplement for prostate health is Saw Palmetto berry extracts.

New research suggests that green tea may help prevent the spread of prostate cancer. Specifically phytochemicals in green tea, called polyphenols attack growth factors and proteins, interrupting growth processes of tumors, thus preventing them from spreading to other organs.

Since earlier studies suggests that the same natural plant substances might also help prevent the start of prostate cancer, researchers indicate that more studies are needed on green tea's affect on fighting this common cancer. The best way to reduce your risk of prostate cancer still lies in eating a mostly vegetarian diet.

Studies on diet and cancer also show that green tea when tested with mice with an aggressive form of cancer can decrease the spread or metastasis of prostate cancer to liver, bone, and other parts of the body. Additional study of green tea may help develop a treatment to prevent the dormant, non threatening type of prostate cancer many men have in their 70's & 80's from becoming aggressive and fatal.

Around six cups of green tea per day would contain the equivalent amount of polyphenols for individuals to help block the spread of cancer. Other data shows that the phytochemicals in green tea could inhibit the early phases of prostate cancer development.

Green tea contains compounds known as polyphenols which are antioxidant and are credited with protecting against cancer, heart disease and aging. Green tea diet is also widely recognized as a substance that can protect against many different cancers such as stomach cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer of the colon, oral cancer, prostate cancer, and breast and cervical cancers.

Japanese men, who commonly drink four to six cups of green tea daily, have a significantly lower mortality rate from prostate cancer than Westerners. And the incidence of prostate cancer in China, whose population consumes green tea regularly, is the lowest in the world.

Whatever the benefits of green tea, it would be a mistake to rely on tea alone for prevention. Studies show that other food nutrients, including saw palmetto, potassium, zinc, selenium, soy and green tea may also lead reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer.

Antioxidants assist the body's immune system to quench free radicals before they can damage healthy cells...To Read More !

Enlarged Prostate Benefits From Saw Palmetto To Promote Prostate Health

. Friday, January 11, 2008

by: Mary Hanna

Europe has been using Saw Palmetto to promote prostate health for years. Enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and the herb saw palmetto has been studied in European labs for it's effectiveness in treating the disorder. American labs lag far behind in their research of enlarged prostate and herbs to treat it. Modern medicine in America frequently relies on pharmaceuticals sometimes to the detriment of natural herbal remedies. For instance, Doctors usually proscribe Proscar (T) and other prostate drugs which take time to become effective, unlike the Saw Palmetto herb which will kick in within 30 days.

The medicinal part of 'Serenoa Repens' or the Saw Palmetto is derived from the partially dried ripe fruit of the plant. The Saw Palmetto herb is indigenous to Southeastern United States but is most prevalent in Florida. It is the sterols and the fatty acids that are found in the berry that are the active ingredients. In Germany ninety percent of treatments for BPH use the saw palmetto herb, while in Italy it is fifty percent. Their successes have been many since BPH is nearly universal in the aging process of men.

A Study done in Russia tested 150 men with an enlarged prostate who had been diagnosed with BPH and other prostatic problems. Their findings concluded that Permixon, a European brand of standardized saw palmetto herb extract, had a long term efficacy and acceptability as therapy for BPH. The test was conducted over a period of 24 months and it was found that the quality of life from the base line study improved dramatically. The men had decreased prostate size, better urinary flow and increased sexual activity. The saw palmetto herb works by protecting the gland from irritating testosterone levels and will promote it to shrink.

Even better news about the herb saw palmetto, is that when used to combat enlarged prostate its side effects are almost none and it is non-toxic. Some men complained of gastrointestinal disorders but these were relieved when the herb was taken with food. There were some concerns in the early stages of study that the saw palmetto herb would mask prostate cancer by lowering the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. After much more study this was found not to be true.

Many studies show that you must buy a brand that is 'standardized with at least 85-95 percent fatty acids' with 320 grams of the herb. In a few cases when large amounts where used it caused diarrhea in some patients. Studies have shown that the saw palmetto extract is effective in 90% of the men in clinical trials in over a four to six week period. Pharmaceutical drugs have been shown to need up to a year for significant improvement. Another benefit is that saw palmetto extracts are about one quarter of the price of pharmaceutical drugs.

There have been other herbs that have be cited as beneficial to enlarged prostate such as, stinging nettle, pumpkin seed, zinc, green tea, South African star grass and melatonin. None are as effective or show the promise of the saw palmetto herb.

In conclusion the benefits of the Saw Palmetto herb for an enlarged prostate are many. It will reduce symptoms of BPH, with occasional mild gastrointestinal distress but this is infrequent. The herbal remedy will not interfere with a prostate cancer diagnosis and it has no known drug interactions. The dosage has widely been agreed on by scientists as 320 grams per day and will cost you significantly less then a prescription drug.

If you have an enlarged prostate and you are looking for an herbal remedy speak to your Doctor about taking the saw palmetto herb to relieve your symptoms. Always speak to your Doctor before adding any medicines to your regime whether they are natural herbs, vitamins or supplements.

What Fruits and Vegetables Help to Prevent Prostate Cancer

. Monday, April 30, 2007

Author: Evelyn Lim

It is a widely known fact that you should be eating fruits and vegetables for a balanced diet. In addition, studies have shown that the regular consumption of fruits and vegetables in place of meats can help prevent the onset of many diseases. Eating fruits and vegetables have been said to help in cancer prevention. Two examples of such fruits and vegetables that help prevent prostate cancer are quoted here:

Tomatoes

There is increasing evidence to support that the consumption of tomato and tomato-based products helps prevent prostate cancer. This is because tomatoes contain a particular substance known as lycopene. While lycopene is found in a variety of different sources, it is abundant in tomatoes. Additionally, somehow, the nutrients contained in the fruit help the body assimilate lycopene more readily.

Lycopene is apparently a very powerful antioxidant. During normal cellular processes, your immune system uses free radicals to mop out any foreign invaders like germs and bacteria. However, trouble starts if the free radicals are allowed to roam the body unchecked. They will eventually start attacking healthy cells, making them cancerous. These cancerous cells will then start to spread throughout the whole body. Antioxidants are substances that clean up excess free radicals. They therefore play a very critical role to help prevent prostate cancer.

Here are some interesting findings. The maximum benefits of lycopene appear to come from processed tomato products such as ketchup and tomato sauce. Scientists do not appear to know why but lycopene levels in processed tomatoes are found to be higher than in natural ones. These findings are not completely verified, however.

By all means, include ketchup and real tomatoes in your diet if you wish to prevent prostate cancer. Based on statistics, consuming at least two servings of lycopene a week can reduce your risk of getting prostate cancer by as much as 30%.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Substances that are known to cause cancers are known as called carcinogens. You may not be aware of this but we ingest carcinogens on a daily basis. Carcinogens are toxins that can also be found in the air that we breathe. Luckily, your body has a natural defence mechanism against carcinogens. Using protective proteins, the body cleans up the carcinogens before they can do any real harm. Cancer only starts when the protective proteins are removed or rendered useless.

To maintain the health of these protective proteins, researchers now advocate the regular consumption of cruciferous vegetables. Cruciferous vegetables include brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and bok choy. These vegetables contain sulforaphane, a compound that strengthens the protective proteins. When sulforaphane is available within the body, the activities of the proteins increase. They become more efficient in dealing with carcinogens and thus slow down cancerous growth.

To get an adequate supply of sulforaphane, you should have at least 5 servings a week of cruciferous vegetables. A long term study show that men who eat cruciferous vegetables on a regular basis show a reduction of 20% less risk on having prostate cancer.

Thus, if you wish to prevent prostate cancer or reduce the risk of being diagnosed with one, consider including more tomatoes, broccoli and brussel sprouts in your diet today. There are many ways to prepare these fruits and vegetables to make them more palatable ; in salads, stews, juices, stir fried, boiled or baked.

The Truth About Natural Remedies For Prostate Cancer

. Monday, March 12, 2007

By Abbie Frank

Prostate cancer is a very serious disease that is claiming the lives of able and strong people all over the world. The rise in the number of men diagnosed with prostate cancer however is not surprising given the increase in the age of our population. With the baby boomer bubble now reaching around 60 years old, were looking for treatments and natural remedies to deal with this mostly senior disease.

Prostate cancer is typically considered a disease that usually affects men in their later years. This isn't to say the prostate cancer is ONLY a senior disease as some men have been diagnosed as early as their mid-30s with this type of cancer. There is research to suggest that prostate cancer may at least in part be hereditary. That is, if your father, uncle's or other close male relatives have or have had prostate cancer, your risk goes up dramatically.

Although agent heredity has been identified as major contributors to the increase in prostate cancer, there are a lot of things we can do to proactively prevent the disease or limit its impact on our lives. This is where natural remedies can really shine.

It's no secret that a healthy body is better able to fight off disease. It stands to reason than, that a natural, proactive remedy such as staying fit an active can only help.

Add to an active lifestyle, a low-fat diet, along with vitamins, minerals, and supplements to strengthen our immune system, and we have a strong arsenal to fight off many diseases such as prostate cancer. Let's be clear however, that I'm not suggesting a healthy lifestyle and vitamin supplements can cure cancer or even keep you from getting the disease.

Still, a healthy body, well charged with the necessary vitamins and minerals, can more effectively fight off a variety of illnesses and diseases. And in the event that a disease such as prostate cancer would take hold, a healthy body is better able to withstand the medical treatments that may be necessary to attack and cure the cancerous condition.

So although we may call them natural cures, the alternative medicine approach is much more effective in sustaining our outlook and body to ward off diseases in the first place. No matter how out of shape you may be, start today to make yourself healthier.

Could Pomegranates Be The New Prostate Cancer Natural Cure?

. Saturday, February 24, 2007

Author: Rebecca Prescott

Pomegranates have long been used in traditional folk remedies to treat sore throats, inflammation, and rheumatism. And recent scientific research has suggested they are also potentially effective in both preventing and treating prostate cancer.

One study, conducted on human prostate cancer cells in lab dishes, at the University of Wisconsin, found that there were dose dependant improvements. Another study at the same facility injected mice with human prostate cancer cells. These mice developed malignancies. Some mice were fed plain water, whilst two other groups of mice were given water mixed with different concentrations of pomegranate extract.

Those mice that had water only had tumors that grew much faster than the pomegranate and water groups. The quantities given to the mice were comparable to that which people might get if they drank pomegranate juice on a daily basis. And whilst pomegranate juice hasn't been tested on humans with prostate cancer yet, the results are very good.

The study did not indicate what aspects of pomegranate juice were responsible for slowing down prostate tumour growth. But the scientists involved did mention the antioxidant polyphenolic compounds, which are more effective than green tea and red wine.

Pomegranate extract not only inhibited the growth of cancer cells, it also worked by another means - apoptosis.

Apoptosis refers to a way that cells can die. Cancer growths are characterized by an uncontrolled growth of cells that do not follow the normal processes of cellular differentiation of regular, healthy cells. Cellular differentiation means that the characteristics of a cell change and get the functions that a mature, healthy cell would. For example, liver cells have specialized liver functions, as do prostate, breast, kidney, and all other types of cells. This is normal and healthy.

In tumour growths, although some cells fully differentiate, many only differentiate partially, and some not at all. And the tumors which have more undifferentiated cells grow faster. So, inducing cellular differentiation is one approach to cancer treatment. The other two ways that doctors and researchers try to treat cancer is by causing the death of cancerous cells. They do this through apoptosis, mentioned above, and necrosis.

In apoptosis, cell death is programmed into the cell when it is 'born'. So the cell dies in a more natural way that is less destructive on its environment. By this I mean it doesn't cause inflammation and the damage associated with it to neighboring cells that may be healthy. Cells die either when they reach cellular old age or when their death benefits the body as a whole. Necrosis, on the other hand, does cause inflammation.

Generally, prostate cancer grows very slowly, although it is unpredictable and can grow quickly and spread.

By Alex Fir

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, apart from skin cancer. After lung cancer, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death among men.

In this year, around 234,500 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the US. In 2006, approximately 27,300 men will die from prostate cancer in the US alone. One in every 8 Canadian men will develop the disease, and one in 3 will die from it.

Every man is at risk for prostate cancer. Black men have about a 60% higher incidence rate of prostate cancer than white men, and almost a two-fold higher mortality rate than white men.

Men most at risk include:

- Men over age 40
- North American and European origin
- Diets with a high fat intake
- History of the disease in the family.

The disease takes a long time to develop, and can be easily treated, if detected in its early stages. Prostate cancer can take up to eight to ten years to spread and become life threatening.

There are no specific prostate cancer symptoms, but some potential signs include:

- Frequent, difficult and painful urination
- Blood or pus in the urine
- Pain the in the lower back, pelvic area, or upper thighs
- Painful ejaculation

When speaking about medical options, doctors typically offer patients two choices: radiation therapy or surgery to remove prostate gland.

Studies show that that adding the following to your diet can help reduce the risk of prostate cancer:

- Vitamin E
- Vitamin C
- Tomato juice
- Selenium
- Garlic

Here are 5 foods that can help prevent prostate cancer:

1. Black, pinto, small red and kidney beans.
2. Tomatoes, watermelon and pink grapefruit.
3. Sweet potatoes, carrots and cantaloupe.
4. Broccoli, kale and cauliflower.
5. Soy milk.

Prostate Cancer - A Nautural Cure Without Medication

. Friday, January 05, 2007
0 comments

By Sacha Tarkovsky

Prostate cancer is classified as an adenocarcinoma, or glandular cancer, that begins when normal semen-secreting prostate gland cells mutate into cancer cells.

The symptoms or conventional treatment of prostate cancer will not be discussed here, as they are well documented, and a great deal of research has been underway for a long time.

Rather, our discussion is first of all the mutation of the normal prostate cells, and then, a restoration without mutation of new cells, letting the body’s immune system clear away the cancer.

Mutation of Prostate Cells

A genetic mutation is defined as a distinct change of the DNA sequence within a gene or chromosome of any organism. This in turn results in the creation of new characteristics or traits not found in the parental type.

Mutations occur very seldom on their own in nature. Instead, they are usually caused by mutagens (substances or forces that give rise to mutations). In the case of the cells of the prostate, these may be (often are) environmental in nature, or by direct invasion of strong radiating forces.

Whatever the specific cause, the cancerous mutations on the prostate gave rise to new cells that if generally left untreated, can metastasize, and end up with death as the result.

Conventional Treatment vs. Alternative Treatment

There are now several options available to the men afflicted with this condition. There is also an alternative treatment that can be used on its own, or in conjunction with any of the various conventional treatments available.

The alternative treatment suggests the afflicted man to get in intimate touch with his deepest self, and locate the perfect pattern of non-diseased genetic codes which produced non-diseased prostate cells.

Once this is done, the pattern can be superimposed on the cells of the prostate, and the new cells are produced to the original pattern. This is called application of the Konov Principle

The Konov Principle

Sergey Konov, a contemporary Russian film producer, writer and original thinker, has coined the phrase Genetic Memory to express the repository of all chemical-physical events in our bodily and mental existence.

Konov has explained that in the case of cancer of the prostate, the genetic memory has records of both the normal and cancerous genetic information.

By the application of addressing the genetic memory, one can re-establish the priority of the normal arrangement

Addressing the Genetic Memory

By following some basic yogic exercises in relaxation and concentration, one may become gradually aware of one’s inner and basic nature, including the mechanism of genetic reproduction of cellular material.

The technique of achieving this may be found in earlier articles covering application of the Konov Principle.

The actual possibility of discovering one’s ideal genetic combinations and then superimposing them upon the later, mutated variety is a real and practical possibility.

Doctors are still quite uncertain about the nature of the healing process, and quite impressed with recent “placebo” cures occurring when patients believe strongly enough they are being treated.

These patients may have accidentally found their way to their own genetic memories, and healed themselves.

This article does not suggest you should reject medical treatment if you need it, but rather, should you find yourself ill, with say, prostate cancer, some deep self-realization techniques and practice, can bring you closer to realizing your own nature, and help yourself effect a cure.
